Steward Fund Recovery was started in Jacksonville, Florida, with one goal: help people get money that’s already legally theirs, without the confusion, the short deadlines, or the runaround that keeps most of it unclaimed.
Every year, foreclosure and tax deed sales across the country generate leftover funds that go straight past the people they belong to — not because those people did anything wrong, but because nobody told them the money was there, or because the claim window is often just a few months long and easy to miss entirely.
My name is Adam Austin, and I am the founder and owner of Steward Fund Recovery. I’m based here in Jacksonville, Florida, and I’ve owned and operated service businesses in this community for the past 25 years — but Steward Fund Recovery itself isn’t limited to my backyard. We help people recover surplus funds from foreclosures and tax deed sales in all 50 states.
I grew up poor, raised by a single mother, always waiting on a break that never really came. What I did have was a willingness to grind — I built a decent living for my family with my brains and my bare hands, over many years. But adversity found me too. I lost my businesses, my trucks, my equipment — even my wife and kids. I lost it all. I know exactly what that feels like, and I know there’s a light at the end of that tunnel, because I found mine.
Losing a home is huge, even years later. Even once it sits empty, those walls still echo the laughter and the tears, the joy and the sadness, the voices of family, the sound of doors closing for good. A piece of you stays behind in there. So when I found out that a foreclosed or tax-deeded home can sell for more than what was owed on it, and that extra money is legally yours — but the government will just quietly keep it if nobody ever tells you it exists — that didn’t sit right with me. It still doesn’t.
I’ve spent my life standing up against systems that take more than their share, and it’s cost me more than I care to mention. But nothing beats finding that money and putting it back in the hands of the person it actually belongs to. I’ll do the paperwork, cover the costs, and deal with the courts and the clerks — for you, or for the next person — so you don’t have to relive any of it just to get what’s already yours.
We believe you should always know your options — including the option to skip us entirely and file the claim yourself for free. We’ll tell you how. If you’d rather not deal with the paperwork and deadlines alone, we’re here to help, and we only get paid if you get paid.
